SELF
Q. Tell us something about you – your philosophy, your lifestyle,
your ethics, your hobbies etc.
A.
I have always loved to travel, experience different cultures, meet and talk to people and listen to their stories.  Over the years this has inspired me to write, both from a business and personal perspective.  As an avid net-worker, I get pleasure from mentoring and supporting young people in business. At the end of this year I will complete a person-centred counselling course, which is a wonderful adjunct to my work, interviewing people and writing their life stories. Personal interests include daily yoga practice, tennis, walking, music, reading and enjoying peace and tranquillity whenever I can.

BUSINESS DETAILS
Q. What is it that your business does?
A.
I write people’s life stories.  This also includes writing corporate histories.

Q. Do you work from home?
A.
I have an office in Mordialloc which sometimes transfers to a laptop in a mud brick house in Waratah Bay, or at the local beach café.

Q. How many do you employ?
A.
I sometimes utilise the services of a young and talented graphic designer.

Q. How long have you been in business?
A.
Since 1995.

Q. What makes your business unique?
A.
Writing people’s life stories is not just a job, it’s a privilege.  My particular life experience and skills means I am able to quickly establish rapport and gain trust with my clients.  That’s an important requisite when people invite you to write their life story.

MARKETING
Q. What is the most important Marketing/Networking tool/strategy your business has had success with?
A.
Keeping in touch with people I meet through networking, following up after networking functions, being interested in their businesses and offering ongoing support.

A.
In 2002 Write Creations won the Micro Business Award for Vic/SA/Tas Home Based Business Category.

ADVICE

A.
The Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you."

The opportunity to meet, network and exchange ideas with like-minded business owners.

Q. What is it you can offer to MCEI members?

Loyalty.  Support.  Encouragement.

Q. How do you envisage demonstrating your support and loyalty to the association of MCEI?
A.
Attending events and volunteering my services whenever possible.

MILESTONES
In the past 12 months I have written the life story of Melbourne-based businessman Bruce Heymanson (Eurovox). I have travelled to the Gold Coast to interview Max Kirwan (Max Kirwan Mazda) and am currently writing his life story.  During 2010 I had an article written about my business in The Melbourne Weekly.
