Q. Tell us something about you – your philosophy, your lifestyle, your ethics, your hobbies etc.
A.
I’m just an ordinary person like everyone else. I value my friends and my family over everything. For recreation, I like to play basketball, watch a movie or go to the beach. I am grateful for the simple things in life.

I like to work with people who have high integrity and high work ethics. I believe the only way to do business is to create win-win relationships, so I don’t believe in making someone else suffer for my own benefits.

BUSINESS DETAILS
Q. What is it that your business does?
A.
Market Ease Business Promotions helps small businesses in Australia leverage the power of the Internet to generate more leads and acquire more sales for their businesses. We do this by creating and designing an online strategy that will help our clients generate more traffic, and converting those traffic into leads and sales. One thing we specialise in and do very well is to be able to get our clients dominating the front page of Google for their main keyword. This can often equate to not 1, but multiple (3-10) listings on the front page of Google.

Q. Do you work from home? How many do you employ?
A.
I am always on the move now, as I do speaking engagements and seminars around Australia. I have a virtual team of 6 full time staff who work from their own homes. I also have a team of sub-contractors that I hand work off to on a regular basis.

Q. How long have you been in business?
A.
I’ve been in business since January 2006, starting out offering only web and graphic design services. I’ve since moved on to the online marketing space and have quickly positioned myself as an expert in this field. I now teach students from around the world on the topic of online marketing. My students come from all over Australia as well as the UK, USA, and Japan.

Q. What makes your business unique?
A.
Web designers generally have a combination of two skills: design, and the technical know-how. Unfortunately, it’s often rare to find both of these skills in the same person. Most web designers are primarily either designers, or technical wizards. A web designer who is primarily a designer will produce beautiful looking websites but will often have negligible marketing impact. They will put up full pages of graphic text and multimedia animations, as a result, producing a beautiful but slow loading website. The website will be admired but will not drive much business.

On the other side of the scale, a web designer that is primarily a technical wizard will create a website that will work flawlessly with the use of advanced programming scripts and JavaScript applets. The result is a well working website, but will look unattractive and confusing to the user.

The business-driven approach differentiates Market Ease Business Promotions from typical web design and marketing companies. Market Ease concentrates on the clients’ businesses and their needs, and design and develop their online strategy around that information to create results-driven campaigns for our clients. We design websites through a marketing perspective, at the same time, balancing the use of design skills and technical programming to create a positive return on investment for our clients.

MARKETING
Q. What is the most important Marketing/Networking tool/strategy your business has had success with?
A.
The most important marketing tool/strategy would have to be networking. Once we started to get some recognition and credibility in the market place, we were able to network with other credible authorities in the same niche market, and piggy backed off their credibility to grow our business. A lot of joint ventures have formed as a result.

We also run a newsletter system that helps to build and maintain a relationship and rapport with our potential and existing clients. Every time we shoot out a newsletter with a tip to help their business, we get a few sales for our products/services so it works like a charm. It also helps to bring us across as the expert in our field; the go-to guys for online promotion.

AWARDS
Q. Has your business been nominated for, was a finalist in, or won any awards or other commendations?
A.
Market Ease Business Promotions won the Young Business Accelerator Award in 2007, a government initiative hosted by the North West Business Development Centre. We also won one gold and 3 silver awards from the National Australian Web Designers’ Network. We have yet to enter any other awards since, as we have been focused on joint ventures and delivering value for our clients.

ADVICE
Q. What is the most helpful piece of advice you could give to other businesses?
A.
Don’t waste your time and effort focusing on the negative things that happen in your business. You’re much better off spending that time and effort doing the things that will move your business forward instead.
